Chocolate Cookie

7 Jun

Hi everyone!

I was shopping with my dad, and I found chocolate cookie mix. I thought it would be nice to make them for my blog, so I decided to get it and make them. I used a cookie mix to make the chocolate cookie. You can easily make them with an oven, and you can make different shapes. This cookie mix from Q One (큐원) has vitamins, cream cheese, and other healthy ingredients. You shouldn’t worry about it, because it’s proven that it’s healthy and delicious.

INGREDIENTS:

  • Chocolate Cookie Mix from 큐원 (Q One) (But I think you can use any type of cookie mix) (300g)
  • Oil or melted butter (50mL)
  • 1 egg
  • chocolate or almonds (optional)
DIRECTIONS:
  1. Prepare all the ingredients.
  2. Open the cookie mix.
  3. Put all the ingredients in a bowl and mix them.
  4. Flatten the dough on a cutting board.
  5. Use wrappers, and wrap the dough.
  6. Use cookie cutters to make unique shapes.
  7. Peel off the wrapper, and carefully take the shaped dough and put it in an oven.
  8. Bake it for about 15 minutes @ 180°C
  9. Serve it with milk.

Have fun, enjoy. : )

Father’s Day Card

7 Jun

Hi everyone!

I just realized that Father’s Day is coming up. This year’s Father’s Day is on June 19th. I was thinking about what I should do or get for my dad, and I decided to make him a shirt-shaped card. It looked really cute, and it was really easy to make. It took me less than 5 minutes to make the actual card, but you should take some time to write and decorate the card.

Materials:

  • 1 A4 paper
  • Pens, colored pencils, or anything that you need to decorate the card

So, here are steps on how to make it:

  1. Fold the A4 paper in half vertically.
  2. Unfold.
  3. Line up both edges with centerline fold, and crease.
  4. Fold the paper in half horizontally.
  5. Unfold.
  6. Fold both sides lining up the center and the corners.
  7. Fold the paper in half horizontally, leaving about 1.5cm at the top for the collar.
  8. Fold the collar.
  9. Turn the paper over and fold the corners.
  10. VOILA!

The picture below is an example of  cards that are decorated. You can use different type of papers and be as creative as you want.

My dad and I aren’t close like other daughters and fathers are. It might sound a little weird, but I never told my dad I love him. It’s not because I don’t love him, but I’m just really bad at expressing my feelings to someone. Through this year’s father’s day, I want him to know how much I respect him, thank him, and love him.

Let’s be thankful and respectful to our parents, and make them happy. : )

What is love?

5 Jun

Hi everyone!

During English class, we read a novel called Brave New World by Aldous Huxley. This book talks about what the world would be like 600 years from today. When we were done with the book, Ms. P gave us an assignment to do. It was making a presentation on a category that I chose. I chose humanity, and my question was “What is love?”. The link below is the link for my presentation. (I don’t know how to upload the keynote on this page.. Sorry about that.)

http://www.slideshare.net/slideshow/embed_code/8210378

After the presentation, I was thinking.. and I thought it would be nice to write on my blog about love.

So, what is love?

It is a broad question. But that’s one of the reasons why I chose this question.

Love is something that everyone experiences in their lives, at least once, I believe. There are many different kinds of love so there are thousands of different definitions of love. But there is one thing every kind of love has in common: caring.

When you love someone, you want them to be happy and you want to do anything you possibly can in order to make them happy. There are many different kinds of love like I said earlier, and I’m going to explain three basic ones that most people know. The first one is security love, the love that everyone needs in order to survive. It is the feeling of being cared and nurtured. This type of love is what parents have for their children. The second one is friendship love, which is a love between yourself and your friend. Your friend should be someone who is very honest, open, comfortable, and truthful. Last but not least, the third one is romantic love, which most people think of first when we say the word “love”.  This is love between you and your partner, who you feel passion, attraction, caring, and respect. You feel this this type of love when you see someone and feel like your heart is going to explode. People say it gives you butterflies in your stomach.

I found an article written by Julia Stuarts and she said love is blind”.

According to Stuarts, the scientists have discovered that certain parts of the brain become deactivated when people are in love, including areas linked with negative emotions, planning, critical social assessment, the evaluation of trustworthiness and fear. So when you’re in love, everything looks beautiful, and you feel happy. My mom said the whole world looks beautiful when you’re in love. But she said this only happens when you’re in a good relationship.

Stuarts also said “love hurts, literally”.

When you’re in love and feel like you have just been rejected but you’re still in love, you will be in physical, as well as psychological pain. There is a high possibility of getting a depression, because you are confused, and you don’t know what to do. So there are moments when you’re not happy even though you’re in love.

In conclusion, I think love is something that is necessary in our lives. It is a good experience, and by feeling this expression, you can learn many different things, like looking out for others, making others happy, and caring others. Living without love is meaningless. People should look out for each other and care and respect each other. Without love, there won’t be any true happiness that we have right now around us.

Cheerleading

5 Jun

Hi everyone! This is my first time not writing about making cards or baking. I’ve made another category; “life”. The theme for my blog is making & baking, but I thought having a category that has some meaningful things are also important. (I’m not saying making and baking things aren’t important, but you guys know what I mean: ) )

Cheerleading.

This was my first year doing cheerleading, and it actually took a big part of my life. The picture above was taken at the KAIAC tournament, and that is my team. Through out the season, there were many accidents and other hardships, but we all overcame and had a success. We practiced everyday after school (even on sundays) worked out and became buff, ate together, laughed together, and cried together… There are so many unforgettable memories that are so precious. Playing a sport in general brings everyone closer and tighter, like a family. Cheerleading at my school is a winter sport, (because we don’t have football season) and so it’s been a while since we were together. After the season was over, everyone was busy doing school work, including myself, and there wasn’t really time to get together. And also, the seniors are leaving…: ( SO, our team decided to get together for the last time before the seniors leave and have a team picnic for the first, last time. Not everyone couldn’t come, but it was still nice to see my team again. It was at Yuldong Park (율동공원) in Bundang. The weather was beautiful, and many people were at the park, enjoying the sunshine. My friends and I tried to do stunts, scorpion, and cart wheels, but we kind of failed.. (Haha, it’s been a while). We ate, talked, took TONS of pictures,

This picture above is Jane and Christine basing me. We couldn’t really do any skilled stunts, because we didn’t have any mats, proper shoes and clothes.  (I look awkward… hahah)

The picture above is me, Jane, Minah, Sara (from left) doing scorpion.

And last but not least, the picture above is my team. SPIRIT FINGERS!

PS. SENIORS!

CONGRATULATIONS!! Cheer next year isn’t going to be the same without you guys.. It’s going to feel really empty.. Have fun at college, and come visit us sometime. I wish you guys the very best of luck! : ) We’re going to miss you guys.

Love, Jina

Birthday Pop-Up Card

18 May

Hi everyone!

It was one of my best friend’s birthday a while ago, so I decided to make a special card for him. I wanted to update my blog right away, but I was a bit busy with school, sports, and other things. The card that I made this time is a pop-up card. There is another birthday pop-up card that I made a while ago, (https://jinak13.wordpress.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/12/birthdaycard.jpg), but the one I made this time is more formal.. I think you could make this birthday card for anyone, anytime. And here’s the instruction on how to make the birthday card.

Materials:

  • Scissors
  • Knife
  • Ruler
  • Heavyweight Construction Paper (any color you want) (24cm x 16cm)
  • White paper (22cm x 14cm)
  • Glue
  • Crayons or glitters to decorate the card
HOW-TO:
  1. Cut out the white (22cm x 14cm) and heavyweight construction paper (24cm x 16cm).
  2. Fold the white paper and heavy weight construction paper in half. (1st picture)
  3. On a piece of white paper, draw number 1 and 7 and cut them out. (If you can’t draw, you can print it out with font arial, size 250. Don’t forget to make those numbers bold.) (2nd picture)
  4. Turn those cut out numbers over, and trace it on the white paper (22cm x 14cm). (3rd picture)
  5. Make sure the numbers 1 and 7 are about 1cm below the half line of white paper before drawing.
**you need to draw lines above 1 and 7 that is about 1cm long and 1cm thick, to make those numbers pop-up.
  6. This isn’t required, but I cut those two numbers on the piece of construction paper, and glued them on the white paper. (4th picture)
  7. Glue the white paper to the construction paper. (5th picture)
  8. Decorate and write anything you want to say. (6th picture)
